Carers
Census 2001 shows that the 18,515 (7.6%) people that provide unpaid care in Southwark make up a similar proportion of the population to those in Lambeth (7.0%) and Lewisham (7.9%), but smaller than London (8.5%) and England (9.9%). However, Southwark unpaid carers appear to provide more care; 22.3% provide more than 50 hours of care per week, higher than London (19.5%) and England (20.5%); and 63.3% provide 1 - 19 hours per week, a lower proportion than London(68.5%) and England (68.6%).
